Byelections will be held in 30 local body wards on February 24.
The State Election Commission announced the bypoll schedule on Wednesday, bringing the model code of conduct into effect in the relevant jurisdictions.
Polling of votes will begin at 7 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. The polled votes will be counted on February 25, State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan said.
The bypoll notification will be issued on Thursday (January 30). Candidates have time till February 6 to file nomination papers and scrutiny will be held the next day. February 10 is the last date for withdrawing the nominations.
Bypolls are planned in one corporation ward (Sreevaraham in Thiruvananthapuram), two block panchayat wards, three municipal wards, and 24 grama panchayat wards in this round.
The commission, which is tasked with preparing voters lists and conducting elections to local bodies in the State, is arranging 80 polling booths for the February 24 bypolls. Of the total 60,617 voters, 32,087 are women and 28,530 are men.
Kalluvathukkal in Kottarakara municipality (Kollam district), East High School ward in Muvattupuzha municipality (Ernakulam district), and Kumbazha North in Pathanamthitta municipality are the three municipal wards on the list. The block panchayat wards are Anchal and Kottara in Anchal block panchayat and Kottarakara block panchayat respectively.
