Coastal police stated that some containers have been discovered alongside the southern Kollam coast.

The whole variety of containers washed ashore shouldn’t be but identified, and authorities are working to handle the state of affairs, they stated.

Police have been deployed in all affected areas.

Reports point out that no less than 4 containers have been noticed to date alongside the coast of Kollam district.

Officials have urged the general public to avoid the containers, warning that the ship had 13 hazardous cargos amongst its 640 containers.

The cargo ship capsized and sank early Sunday, resulting in a big oil spill.

The leak has sparked a statewide alert, as gasoline is drifting at a velocity of round three kilometres per hour and will quickly impression the ecologically delicate Kerala shoreline.

According to the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), the sunken vessel had 84.44 metric tonnes of diesel and 367.1 metric tonnes of furnace oil in its tanks.

Some containers had been carrying harmful substances corresponding to calcium carbide, a chemical that reacts with seawater to launch extremely flammable acetylene gasoline, officers stated.

The ICG is main air pollution response efforts and monitoring the unfold of the oil slick.
