Flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport have been considerably disrupted on Wednesday night as heavy rain and thunderstorms swept throughout the nationwide capital, forcing the diversion of at the very least 13 flights.
According to airport sources, 12 of the affected flights have been rerouted to Jaipur, whereas one worldwide flight was diverted to Mumbai resulting from opposed climate situations in Delhi.
Airlines and the airport operator issued alerts on social media, warning passengers of potential delays and disruptions. IndiGo, one of many main carriers working from Delhi, posted on X (previously Twitter), saying, “Our flight schedules are currently impacted due to the heavy rains and thunderstorm sweeping across Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata.”
