The National Socialist Council of Nagalim or the NSCN (Isak-Muivah) has asked the Border Security Force (BSF) not to use Naga-inhabited areas as a dumping ground for Kuki extremists and immigrants.
The NSCN (I-M) also said the central paramilitary force should stop doing what the Manipur police and the Assam Rifles used to do in the recent past.
“The NSCN will not allow Naga areas to be used as a dumping ground for any illegal immigrants transported by India’s paramilitary forces from across the border or from any other non-Naga areas,” the Naga extremist group said in a statement on Tuesday (March 25, 2025).
The NSCN (I-M) said it was not long ago when its members exposed the “unethical nexus” of the Manipur police with Kuki extremists. It claimed that the police were found providing materials to the Kuki extremists stationed at the Molhang Kuki village in the Naga-dominated Ukhrul district.
The outfit further said various units of the Assam Rifles were found transporting Kuki extremists in the Kamjong district bordering Myanmar and other places of Manipur.
“This time, the BSF were found transporting illegal immigrants from Churachandpur district and dropping them in Ukhrul district’s Litan village area. The BSF has also been guarding the Kuki militants’ camp at Molhang Kuki village,” the NSCN (I-M) said.
‘Cooperative relationship’
“This entails a cooperative relationship between the BSF, a paramilitary force responsible for guarding India’s border, and the Kuki militants. Such a relationship defying any logic is a direct challenge and insult to the NSCN that is in ceasefire with the government of India since 1997 to pave the way for political dialogue for a peaceful solution to the Indo-Naga political conflict,” the outfit said.
It claimed that the security forces have been providing logistical and material help to Kuki extremists since the early 1990s “when the Meitei-dominated Manipur government nurtured the Kuki groups to take on the NSCN”.
The BSF denied aiding or transporting Kuki or any other ethnicity-based extremist group in Manipur or elsewhere in the northeast.
