A joint operation by security forces is underway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the Hiranagar sector’s Saniyal area. According to officials, Jammu and Kashmir Police and troops of the Rising Star Corps launched the operation on March 23. The area remains under strict security surveillance as the encounter continues. The operation was initiated based on specific intelligence input regarding terrorist presence, officials said.
Meanwhile, a seven-year-old girl, Anchal, sustained injuries during the ongoing exchange of fire. She was evacuated to Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua, where she is reported to be in stable condition.
Sources indicate that four to five terrorists are suspected to have infiltrated the area. A local couple working in the fields reportedly spotted armed suspects and alerted security forces, prompting the large-scale search operation.
The encounter follows heightened security alerts over recent infiltration attempts. No official statement has been issued by the police so far regarding casualties or arrests.
