The event marking the relaunch of works on construction of Andhra Pradesh’s capital, Amaravati, should be conducted in such a way that every citizen of the State was filled with pride that “this is my Andhra Pradesh… my capital Amaravati,” Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Sunday.
Mr. Naidu was reviewing the arrangements being made for the relaunch of the capital works on May 2 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Ministers and senior officials.
“It will mark a major turning point in the State’s history as the Prime Minister will restart the works. It is a journey from yesterday’s destruction to tomorrow’s development,” Mr. Naidu observed.
Criticising the previous YSRCP government for “conspiring against Amaravati and trying to ruin it,” Mr. Naidu lauded the spirit of people across all the regions and communities who, despite challenges and hardship, kept Amaravati alive.
Within 10 months of coming to power, the alliance government successfully tackled the challenges left behind by the previous administration and brought the halted works back on track, he said.
“With the Prime Minister, who once laid the stone for Amaravati, himself re-initiating the works, it sends a strong message to those who have tried to destroy the dream project,” the Chief Minister said, adding that it would help the nation too recognise the importance of Amaravati.
“Amaravati symbolises the pride, aspiration, and sentiment of the people of Andhra Pradesh, and nobody can destroy it. Amaravati will become the hub of wealth creation and provide employment and livelihood opportunities for people from all sections of society,” he said.
During the review, the officials gave a presentation outlining the arrangements being made for the May 2 programme.
Mr. Naidu directed that arrangements be made to avoid inconvenience to the people attending the programme from various districts and ensure smooth traffic flow.
“Considering the scorching summer, provide drinking water and food to those traveling from distant places. Residents of the capital region villages should have a significant role and presence,” he said.
“There is a need for strict security measures. The common people should easily reach the venue without trouble,” he added.
Ministers P. Keshav, A. Satya Prasad, P. Narayana, K. Ravindra, N. Manohar, and Satya Kumar attended the meeting, along with the DGP and other officials.
