Five-year-old girl’s murder mystery solved, aunt arrested-OxBig News Network

The Korutla police said they have unravelled the mystery behind brutal murder of a five-year-old girl with the arrest of her aunt in Korutla town on Monday (July 7, 2025).

The police identified the accused as Mamatha, the wife of victim’s father’s brother. The victim, daughter of a Gulf migrant worker A. Ramu, was stabbed to death by the accused in the bathroom of a locked house in the neighbourhood on Saturday (July 5, 2025) evening.

Police sources said the accused resorted to the ghastly crime due to jealousy of the victim’s mother, and family disputes. The grisly pre-planned murder of the girl sent shockwaves in the town, triggering demands for speedy justice. A CCTV footage helped the police unravel the murder mystery.

A grief stricken Ramu reached home from Dubai heartbroken. The horrific murder of the girl plunged the residents of the entire Adarshnagar colony into mourning.
