Four habitual offenders involved in a recent dacoity were arrested by the Tolichowki police on Monday (June 16). The accused, identified as Md. Abdul Salman, Shaik Asif, Md. Nawaz, and Md. Abdul Feroz, were arrested near the passport office at Shaikpet X roads. The police said that a fifth suspect, Syed Fazal, remains at large.
The case was booked following a complaint by Md. Tofij and his friend Md. Sahabaj Alam, who reported that they were robbed of ₹1,000 and ₹4,450 respectively on June 15 near a bakery at the Hakeempet X roads. The assailants, posing as police officials, threatened the victims and fled with the money.
Following their arrest, the police seized ₹5,450 in cash, three smartphones, and a three-wheeler used in the commission of the crime. Further investigation revealed the involvement of the accused in a separate case from June 9, where a group led by Abdul Salman, Nawaz, and Feroz vandalised a TGSRTC bus at Galaxy crossroads and threatened its driver and conductor.
Police records indicate an extensive criminal history for Abdul Salman, linked to at least ten prior cases across various police stations in Hyderabad. Co-accused Asif, Nawaz and Feroz also have earlier offences registered against them. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
