Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar has alleged that the Congress has been practising ‘deception, diversion and distraction’ politics in the State by joining hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tacitly and enacting dramas.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he stated that an individual having a ‘criminal history’ had been trampling the rights of people as the Chief Minister and Home Minister of the State. Condemning the arrest of BRS Vidyarthi, student wing of the party, president G. Srinivas Yadav, Mr. Praveen Kumar said the attack on the news channel office was ‘unfortunate’.
He alleged that a section of the media houses had been acting against the interests of Telangana, and a television channel had aired defamatory content on BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao. On the phone-tapping issue, the former senior police officer claimed such a practice had commenced during the previous Congress rule itself. Mr. Praveen Kumar observed that the government was running the phone-tapping issue as a soap opera and sought to know whether the special investigation team (SIT) was run by the police or Congress leaders.
He demanded that the SIT reveal who had instructed the television channel to use false thumbnails, despite clear directions from the Supreme Court and High Court on airing news without people found guilty in the phone-tapping issue. He sought to know whether Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was aware of internal security and national security and whether phone-tapping was a wing in the police department, and in case the government had any proof, it could file a chargesheet.
