Head to three new international destinations from KIA this summer -OxBig News Network

Three new international routes from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will become operational this summer season.

The three destinations from Bengaluru are Krabi in Thailand, Hanoi in Vietnam and Hanimaadhoo in Maldives.

Indigo will be the first to commence operations on the new international routes as the airline will launch direct flights between Bengaluru and Krabi from March 30.

Bengaluru will become the second Indian city with a direct connection to Krabi which is a popular beach destination among Indian tourists following the recent launch of IndiGo’s direct flight from Mumbai.

From May 1 onwards, Vietnam Airlines — the flag carrier of Vietnam — will launch direct services to Hanoi. The airline will operate flights four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Flight booking for this route has gone live on the airlines website.

The third international route is Hanimaadhoo in Maldives. Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, will launch its new flight services between Hanimaadhoo International Airport and Bengaluru on May 15. Maldivian will operate two weekly flights on this route, with departures scheduled every Sunday and Thursday. The airline said that booking has opened through all Maldivian sales channels, including their official website, mobile application, and ticketing offices. It added that the flight schedule is thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of both leisure and business travellers, particularly during peak travel periods.

In addition, Vietjet will also direct flights to Ho Chi Minh City from Bengaluru from March 19.

KIA, which was recently designated as a ‘large airport’ is directly connected to 31 international destinations. Last year, its added international routes to Denpasar, Mauritius, Langkawi and Dhaalu.

KIA has been the country’s third busiest airport for international passenger traffic for the last few months. KIA broke into the top three (international passenger traffic) in October 2024 beating Chennai and Kochi and has held on to this spot. Earlier, it held the fifth spot.
