Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to discuss a 45-acre plot in Hebbal in Bengaluru, demanded by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) for the development of a multi-modal transport hub and two metro stations.
At the meeting, Mr. Shivakumar asked officials of both Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) and BMRCL to hold talks and mutually resolve the issue by paying compensation to those who owned the land.
BMRCL submitted a formal request for the land, which is under the control of the KIADB. The KIADB acquired the land for a private developer. The BMRCL had proposed compensating affected landowners as per the latest land acquisition norms. However, delay in handing over the land has stalled progress on the metro project.
Minister for Industries M.B. Patil and BMRCL Managing Director Maheshwar Rao, along with senior government officials, attended the meeting.
