Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on Saturday (July 19, 2025).
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath of office to him. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet colleagues were present on the occasion. Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka were among those present.
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh will succeed Justice Sujoy Paul, who had been transferred to the Calcutta High Court. He worked as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court from April 17, 2023. Earlier, he served as the acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jharkhand High Court in January 2012, and was made a permanent judge in January, 2014.
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh comes from a family of legal luminaries as his great grandfather B.P. Sinha also served as the Chief Justice of India. He holds a B.A. Honours and L.L.B. degree from the University of Delhi.
