Kalikiri Sainik School wins South Zone Hockey Tourney-OxBig News Network

The girls team from Sainik School (Kalikiri) receiving the South Zone Hockey Tourney cup at Kodagu meet in Karnataka.

Girls team of the Sainik School (Kalikiri) in Annamayya district emerged champions in the Junior Girls’ (U-17) category at the Sainik Schools’ South Zone Hockey Tournament 2025-26 held at Sainik School Kodagu from June 9 to 13.

The tournament featured teams from four prominent Sainik Schools — Amaravathinagar, Kalikiri, Kazhakootam, and Kodagu. In a tightly contested final, Kalikiri edged past host school Kodagu with a 1-0 win, marking their first-ever title in the newly introduced girls’ hockey division.

Cadet Shrestha from Kalikiri was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament, showcasing exceptional skill and leadership on the field.

With this win, Sainik School (Kalikiri) will go on to represent the South Zone (Group H) in the All-India Sainik Schools Hockey Tournament scheduled next month.
