NEW DELHI: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday lifted the coffins of DRG jawans who lost their lives in an IED blast in Bijapur.
Paying tribute to the fallen soldiers, the CM Sai said the attacked was carried out because “naxalites are rattled”. The CM also said that sacrifice of soldiers will “not go in vain”.
“Naxalites are rattled because of which they executed this cowardly act. 8 jawans of DRG and Bastar fighters lost their lives in the IED blast. I pay tributes to the immortal soldiers… I pay tribute to the civilian driver who also lost his life in this incident… Their sacrifice will not go in vain. They have given up their life for the betterment of Chhattisgarh,” Sai told news agency ANI.
On Monday, Naxals triggered IED blast at one of the police vehicle after which eight security personnel and a vehicle driver were killed in Bijapur district of Bastar division around 2.30 pm in Kutru-Bedre route.
Union home minister Amit Shah also expressed condolences over the death of 8 security personnel and driver and vowed to end Naxalism from India by March 2026 saying the “sacrifice of our soldiers won’t go in vain”.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of DRG soldiers in an IED blast in Bijapur (Chhattisgarh). I express my deepest condolences to the families of the brave soldiers. It is impossible to express this grief in words, but I assure you that the sacrifice of our soldiers will not go in vain. We will end Naxalism from the land of India by March 2026,” he said in a post on X.
After the attack, Chhattisgarh deputy CM Arun Sao said, “Information about a cowardly attack by Naxalites has come from Bijapur. I express condolences for the Jawans…this is a cowardly action…as Jawans are working towards eliminating naxals…they have done this due to desperation and disappointment. This sacrifice of the jawans won’t go in vain.”
