`No Scope For Taking Separate Political Position`: Rijiju On Impeachment Motion Against Justice Yashwant Varma-OxBig News Network

Juctice Yashwant Varma Impeachment: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday said that the impeachment movement in opposition to Delhi High Court Judge Justice Yashwant Varma is a matter associated to corruption within the judiciary, and therefore, there isn’t any scope for taking separate political stands on the problem. 

Justice Varma has been dealing with warmth after piles of burnt money have been allegedly discovered at his residence following a fireplace. 

Speaking to the information company ANI, the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister additionally stated that there isn’t any scope for politicking on the impeachment matter. 

“The impeachment movement in opposition to Justice Yashwant Varma is a matter associated to corruption within the judiciary. So, there isn’t any scope for any politicking. There isn’t any scope for taking a separate political place for each occasion. So, we wish to have a united stand,” Rijiju stated.  

“Parliament as a complete must come collectively to debate this matter and transfer ahead. So, I’m constructing consensus amongst all political events, and I’ve began dialogue with distinguished leaders, and I’ll attain out to all people,” the Minister added.

ANI quoted Rijiju as saying, “(The response has been) very optimistic. As I stated, on this matter, there isn’t any scope for taking a political stance by every occasion. The matter may be very critical, and this can be very necessary for the nation. So, once we focus on corruption, whether or not it is corruption within the judiciary or wherever, it must be taken in one of the best consideration of the nation. We are usually not going to have a partisan view on that.”

This assertion by Rijiju comes a day after the studies steered that the federal government might introduce an impeachment movement in opposition to Justice Varma.

SC’s Action 

Earlier, the Supreme Court had constituted an inquiry committee after the allegations of “burnt money” have been discovered at a storeroom of Justice Varma’s residence. 

Following the formation, the in-house inquiry committee submitted its report on the problem final month, which has since been forwarded to the Prime Minister and the President of India. On May 4, a panel of judges tasked with conducting an inside inquiry into allegations turned in its report back to the then Chief Justice of India (CJI), Sanjiv Khanna.

The CJI had constituted the committee on March 22 to look at the allegations in opposition to Justice Varma, a sitting decide of the High Court of Delhi.

Parliament’s Monsoon Session 

Earlier, Rijiju had introduced that the Monsoon session of the Parliament is scheduled from July 21 to August 12. Both Houses of Parliament will convene on July 21 at 11 am, after a break of over three months.

This Monsoon session would be the first Parliament session because the Pahalgam terror assault of April 22, the Indian Armed Forces’ Operation Sindoor, and tensions between India and Pakistan that continued for days. 

On the opposite hand, the leaders of the Opposition have been demanding to convene a particular session of the Parliament to debate the developments following the phobia assault in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
