Expressing concern over the U.S.‘ choices affecting overseas college students, the Congress on Wednesday (June 4, 2025) mentioned China has reacted strongly regarding their students however Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar have remained “completely quiet” on how Indian college students are being affected by the strikes.

Congress General Secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh identified that based on the Ministry of External Affairs, roughly 3,37,630 Indian college students went to the USA for increased research in 2024 and a couple of third of the overseas college students on American campuses are from India.

This implies that some three-and-a-half lakh Indian households invested their hard-earned financial savings or borrowed for the training of their kids within the U.S., he mentioned.

“They are fully silent on President Trump’s claims on having Operation Sindoor stopped after simply 4 days they usually haven’t mentioned a phrase of concern on how Indian college students and their households are being affected badly by President Trump’s actions,” Mr. Ramesh mentioned, slamming the federal government.
