A day after Cyclone Fengal made landfall, health camps were held in Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts in which over 5,000 persons benefitted.

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin visited a camp organised at Mamallapuram in Chengalpattu district and interacted with the medical personnel and residents there. He distributed food and aid to those at a nearby relief shelter.

In Tiruvallur district, Minister S. M. Nasar said that most of those who were in the shelters returned home on Sunday. “We did not have enough rains in the district. Only about six cattle died, a few huts damaged, and 50 trees fell. A total of 77 minor irrigation tanks got filled. The Pichathur dam was opened, which will allow more tanks to fill up.” The district also had issued a flood warning for villages along the Arani River as water was let into it from this dam in the neighbouring State of Andhra Pradesh.

In Kancheepuram district, a total of 16 cows died, 23 huts were damaged, 225.85 hectares of crops were damaged and 34 trees fell and removed.
