PM Modi inaugurates Namo Bharat corridor between Sahibabad & New Ashok Nagar: All you need to know-OxBig News Network

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Namo Bharat corridor stretching between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar. The 13-km corridor worth Rs 4,600 crore is part of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).
The corridor will connect Sahibabad RRTS station to New Ashok Nagar RRTS station, including two RRTS stations at Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar.
It will offer commuters a fast and efficient travel option between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South RRTS station, reducing the travel time to less than 40 minutes.
Since all sections of the Delhi-Meerut rapid rail corridor opened so far have been in Uttar Pradesh, this will be the first RRTS operational corridor in the national capital.
Passenger services will begin on Rapid Rail’s Delhi section will begin from 5 pm.
Stations that will be operational are New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar (the only underground station of the corridor for now), Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North and Meerut South.

What will be the fare?

The NCR Transport Corporation, which runs rapid rail, released the fare module for the two Delhi stations on Saturday.
“The fare for a one-way ride from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South will be Rs 150 in the standard coach. From Anand Vihar to Meerut South, the standard coach fare will be Rs 130,” said an NCRTC official.
“For the premium coach, the fare from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South will be Rs 255, and Rs 195 from Anand Vihar to Meerut South.” Rapid rail trains have one premium coach (red seats) and five standard coaches (blue seats).

Current Namo Bharat train operations

Namo Bharat train services operate over a 42 km stretch from Sahibabad to Meerut South, covering nine stations: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, and Meerut South. With the operationalisation of the Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar section, the operational length will increase to 54 km with 11 RRTS stations.
The Delhi section has three stations: New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar, and Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station. The work on the rest of the section from New Ashok Nagar to Sarai Kale Khan station is in the final stage of construction, and track-laying activities are in progress. However, the fourth station, Jungpura, which will be developed along with a stabling yard, will come up later.
