NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met 101-year-old former Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Mangal Sain Handa during his two-day visit to Kuwait, fulfilling a request made by Handa’s granddaughter, Shreya Juneja, on social media.
“This is an experience of a lifetime. PM Modi said he especially came here to meet him. We are grateful to Prime Minister Modi,” Mangal’s son Dilip Handa said while talking to news agency ANI.
Earlier, on Friday, Handa’s granddaughter, Shreya Juneja, had shared a message for Prime Minister Modi, requesting him to meet her 101-year-old grandfather during his visit to Kuwait.
“Absolutely! I look forward to meeting Mangal Sain Handa Ji in Kuwait today,” wrote PM Modi in reply.
Moreover, the prime minister also met Abdullateef Alnesef, who published Ramayana and Mahabharata in Arabic language, and Abdullah Baron, who translated them into Arabic, in Kuwait City.
“I am very happy, it is an honour for me. Modi is very happy with this. These books are very important. He (Prime Minister Modi) signed both the books,” Abdullateef Alnesef said while talking to news agency ANI.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day visit to Kuwait on Saturday, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years.
Invited by Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, Modi arrived in the West Aisan country, to “strengthen the India-Kuwait friendship across various sectors”.
