Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers are likely to attend the Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Chhaava’ movie’s screening in Parliament on Thursday (March 27), as per reports. MPs are also expected to attend the screening of the film in the Parliament auditorium.
Released on February 14, the Laxman Utekar-directed film is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Maratha Empire founder Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Kaushal stars in the titular role, while actor Rashmika Mandanna plays his wife, Yesubai. The movie has become the first Hindi film to register 12 million ticket sales on BookMyShow, the ticketing platform said on March 18.
The movie, which hails from Maddock Films, has amassed over Rs 550 crore net at the domestic box office. “Chhaava” also stars Akshaye Khanna, Diana Penty, Neil Bhoopalam, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta and Vineet Kumar Singh.
PM Modi praises “Chhaava”
At the inaugural function of the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (ABMSS) Modi said Maharashtra and Mumbai have taken Marathi films and Hindi cinema to greater heights.
“Aur in dino toh, ‘Chhaava’ ki dhoom machi hui hai. (‘Chhaava’ is making headlines everywhere right now),” PM Modi said about the movie, which has earned over Rs 300 crore globally since its release in theatres last week.
Responding to the praise, Kaushal said that he was honoured. “Honoured beyond words! Grateful to PM Narendra Modi ji,” the actor wrote on Instagram alongside a video of Modi from the event.
