Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled development projects worth Rs 6,640 crore in Jamui district, Bihar, focusing on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and livelihood generation for tribal communities. The announcement was made during a function marking the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Birsa Munda, celebrated as ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas.’

In a significant gesture, Modi also released a commemorative coin and postal stamp in honour of Munda. The PM participated virtually in the ‘Grih Pravesh’ ceremony of 11,000 houses built for tribal families under the PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).
Key initiatives unveiled include 23 mobile medical units (MMUs) under PM-JANMAN, and 30 additional MMUs under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), aimed at improving healthcare access in remote tribal areas. Modi also inaugurated 10 Eklavya Model Residential Schools and 300 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras to promote education and entrepreneurship.
Further, the PM laid the foundation stones for 500 km of new roads, 100 community multi-purpose centres, and 25,000 new houses under PM-JANMAN. Additionally, 1.16 lakh houses will be constructed under DAJGUA, along with 370 hostels for tribal students. The PM also inaugurated two Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museums in Madhya Pradesh and two Tribal Research Institutes in Srinagar and Gangtok.
