Poor upkeep turns children’s park in Senthaneerpuram into an eyesore-OxBig News Network

Residents are irked over the poor condition of children’s park in Senthaneerpuram in Tiruchi.  The park, built near the entrance to Kumaran Road at Senthaneerpuram, is covered with thick shrubs. Although there is paved path for walking, its surface is rugged. Children and parents are forced to use this path to reach the skating rink. The designated space for sports like badminton and volleyball is covered with a thick growth of weeds. Regular visitors to the park complain that there was no maintenance of the lung space.

Several play equipment at the park are either broken or missing. Many slides and swing sets do not have seats. The granite benches are in disarray and several plastic chairs have been rendered unusable. As these are at the entrance, they mar the look of the park. “We used to coach 12 students here. Now, hardly three of four children come for practice. It will be helpful for the children and visitors if the park is renovated,” said P. Maheshwari, a roller-skating trainer.

A senior Corporation official told The Hindu that the issue would be redressed at the earliest.
