Pralhad: UPA govt introduced food security law, Modi implemented it-OxBig News Network

The UPA government introduced a food security law in 2013 before the 2014 elections, but it was PM Modi, who took the initiative to provide free food grain to 80 crore people in a systematic way, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

Joshi was responding to a point raised by Congress MP Jairam Ramesh during Question Hour. “According to a written answer given by Joshi to BJD member Niranjan Bishi’s question, there is a discrepancy of eight million between the intended and identified beneficiaries of public distribution system. This means that eight million Indians, who are entitled to free food grains under the National Food Security Act, are not receiving their ration,” Ramesh had said.
