The Indian Army is in the final stages of preparation for the Republic Day Parade, set to showcase a blend of tradition and indigenous technology.
This year’s parade, scheduled for January 26 on Kartavya Path, will highlight India’s progress in indigenisation and self-reliance under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
The Army will be represented by six marching contingents — Brigade of the Guards, Mahar Regiment, Jat Regiment, Garhwal Rifles, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles and the Corps of Signals. Accompanying them will be the Army Band, performing patriotic and martial music.
The 61st Cavalry Regiment, the world’s last horse-mounted cavalry unit, will also participate, symbolising the Army’s rich traditions.
The equipment display will emphasise operational readiness and technological advancement. Featured will be the T-90 tank, Mechanised Infantry with ICV BMP-II (Sarath) and the NAMIS (Nag Missile System), showcasing mobility, versatility and advanced firepower.
The Army will also demonstrate rapid deployment capabilities through specialised vehicles, including the Pinaka multiple launch rocket system, known for its precision and high-impact lethality. Engineering excellence will be highlighted by bridge-laying vehicles (short-span bridging systems).
Other weaponry on display will include battlefield surveillance systems for real-time situational awareness, all-terrain vehicles for operational efficiency, the Akash air defence weapon system, the BrahMos missile system, the BM-21 rocket launcher and the light strike vehicle.
