The Rachakonda Police have announced a comprehensive plan to ensure public safety, law and order, and smooth traffic, during New Year’s eve (December 31).
Several measures have been put in place to prevent untoward incidents, including strict monitoring of drug-related activities and advanced security protocols, said Rachakonda Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu.
Efforts to curb narcotic and drug abuse will involve intensified surveillance in high-risk areas, with sniffer dogs deployed at key venues as a deterrent. Strict measures have been taken to identify and disrupt the flow of illegal substances. “Gated communities will also be closely monitored, and senior officers, along with zonal night duty teams, will oversee operations throughout the night,” he stated.
Police will prioritise road safety, and implement anti-sabotage measures as well as prevent anti-social behaviour. Special drives targeting violations such as triple riding, over-speeding and rash driving, will be taken up. Vehicle checks will be recorded, with checkpoints using reflective signage clearly marked. SHE teams will be present to address incidents of eve-teasing, and specialised teams will remain on standby for emergencies.
Excise Enforcement Director V.B. Kamalasan Reddy has instructed officials to take steps to curb consumption of non-duty paid liquor, drugs, and ganja during New Year celebrations.
At a review meeting with officials from Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Special Task Force on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy emphasised that no excise staff should take holidays between December 20 and the first week of January.
He ordered extra inspections, particularly on trains, buses, and travel routes, to prevent the entry of non-duty paid liquor into Telangana.
Officials have been asked to monitor New Year event organisers closely and ensure strict actions against violations. Key areas under focus include Nanakramguda, Singareni Colony and L.B. Nagar.
Event permissions:
Organisers must obtain prior police approval for events, including private functions
Applications for permission must be submitted at least 12 days in advance
Event venues must comply with mandatory CCTV surveillance requirements
Adequate parking arrangements must be made
Separate entry and exit routes must be arranged, with special access points for women and children
Fire safety measures, including portable extinguishers, must be in place
Outdoor sound systems must cease by 10 p.m. as per Supreme Court guidelines
Indoor venues may extend sound use until 1.00 a.m., with a strict noise limit of 45 decibels
