Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma released new benefits and subsidies for farmers on Wednesday (March 26, 2025), including grants of ₹137 crore to 30,000 agriculturists, along with new guidelines for agricultural schemes and livestock health care. Mr. Sharma laid emphasis on the welfare of small and marginal farmers to ensure the State’s progress.

Mr. Sharma launched the new measures at a farmers’ conference and farmer producer organisation (FPO) programme in Bikaner. In addition to the increase in the Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi and expansion of the Mangala Pashu Bima Yojana, new guidelines were issued to promote organic farming and widen the scope of the horticulture sector.

Mr. Sharma distributed cheques to farmers as part of various welfare schemes and urged them to join the FPOs to empower themselves through remunerative farming.

Food security

The Chief Minister stated that the hard work of farmers had provided India with food security and had helped the nation emerge as a leading agricultural power. “Farmers work their fields under the scorching sun, in harsh cold, and in heavy rains to irrigate and protect their crops… Their sacrifice and dedication are unparalleled,” he said.

Mr. Sharma said the State Government had transferred ₹1,400 crore to more than 72 lakh farmers under the Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi, distributed short-term interest-free crop loans of ₹29,000 crore to 47 lakh farmers, and released insurance claims of ₹3,000 crore under the Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana.

Mr. Sharma also targeted Congress leader and former CM Ashok Gehlot, accusing him of focusing on social media posts rather than attending the State Assembly’s budget session, which ended earlier this week. “Posting on social media to be in the headlines is not enough. You have to go among the people and understand their pain and suffering,” he said.
