To boost tribal livelihoods, the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) will establish a Bamboo Production Centre (BPC) at Maredumilli in Alluri Sitharama Raju district. The initiative was announced by Rampachodavaram Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Project Officer Katta Simhachalam after a site visit on Tuesday
The SERP has sanctioned ₹50 lakh for setting up of the Bamboo Production Centre, where 1,500 metric tonnes of bamboo, sourced directly from local tribal farmers would be annually processed,” said Mr. Simhachalam. The SERP has set a annual target turnover of ₹5 crore for the BPC.
