Former State Police Chief T.P. Senkumar has criticised the University Laws (Amendment) Bills, that are at present into account of the Governor. He feared the proposed laws might undermine larger training within the State.
Addressing a protest organised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-backed Syndicate and Senate members of assorted universities in entrance of the Secretariat on Friday (May 23, 2025), Mr. Senkumar confused on the necessity to protect the autonomy of universities. He alleged that the Bills would curtail the powers of the Chancellor and switch them to the Higher Education Minister and college Registrars.
He additional added that the establishments, as an alternative of selling high quality analysis, will flip into political centres.
