Tamil Nadu continued to release water from the Mullaperiyar dam on Tuesday (June 30, 2025).
Tamil Nadu opened the 13 spillway shutters of the dam on Sunday after the water level rose to 136 ft on Saturday night. The water level at 12 p.m. on Monday was 136.40 ft. There was an average inflow of 2,480 cusecs of water while the tunnel discharge was 2,118 cusecs, and the average water released to the Periyar was 363.10 cusecs. According to sources, the rule curve level in the dam fixed until June 10 is 136.3 ft.
In Idukki dam
Meanwhile, the water level of the Idukki reservoir reached 2,363.56 ft (57.74%) at 7 a.m. On Monday, as against the 2,338.94 ft (36.67%) the same day last year. According to Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) dam safety wing data, there is 25.42 ft more storage in the reservoir this year compared to the previous year. The upper rule level of the dam until July 10 is fixed at 2,375.33 ft.
Power generation is continuing at the maximum level at Moolamattom Power House, and the power generation on Sunday was 15.338 mu.
According to KSEB data, the storage in major hydel dams rose to 61% of total storage on Monday, as against 35% on the same day last year.
The storage levels in several key hydel dams on Tuesday were as follows: Pampa (61%), Sholayar (52%), Edamalayar (56%), Kundala (17%), Mattupetty (87%), Kuttiady (98%), Thariyode (69%), Anayirankal (52%), Ponmudi (92%), Neriamangalam (96%), Peringalkuthu (66%) and Lower Periyar (98%).
