CHENNAI: Madras HC has ruled that Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University cannot reject an application based on the candidate’s transgender identity. Justice M Dhandapani directed the university to consider the application of petitioner A Nivetha and place her in the appropriate category within two weeks.
HC’s decision came in response to a limited relief request by Nivetha, without interfering with the university’s admission notification issued on June 26.
Nivetha had challenged the university’s prospectus for undergraduate admissions for 2024-2025, arguing that it failed to include a special category for transgender applicants.
