YSRCP leader V Vijaysai Reddy on Saturday resigned as a member of the Rajya Sabha citing personal reasons. He met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and submitted his resignation. He addressed the media and said despite having three and half years left in his six-year term in Rajya Sabha, he has submitted his resignation due to personal reasons. His resignation was accepted by the Vice President.
Vijayasai Reddy resigns
Reddy, a close and trusted ally of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, announced his retirement on January 24 and expressed his gratitude to YSRCP. “I am not joining any political party. My resignation is not to attain any post/position, benefit, or monetary gain. This decision is entirely personal. There is no pressure, or coercion or undue influence on me. I will forever be indebted to the YS family, who has supported me for four decades and across three generations,” he said.
“I will always be grateful to YS Jagan Garu for giving me the opportunity to serve as a Rajya Sabha member twice, and in particular to Bharatamma Garu, who helped me reach new heights in political arena,” he added.
Vijayasai’s resignation is a big blow to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He has served as Jagan’s communicator to national leaders given his vast circle in Delhi.
YSRCP leaders urge V Reddy to reconsider
YSRCP leaders are requesting Vijayasai Reddy to reconsider his decision. Party leader Maddila Gurumoorthy on Saturday urged him to reconsider his decision, emphasising the importance of unity in securing YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s re-election as Chief Minister. “Definitely, we are all wishing that he (Vijayasai Reddy) should continue in our party. Please do not exit from politics. Experienced people like you are necessary for the party. To make Jagan CM again, I requested that we should all work together,” Gurumoothy told reporters outside Vijayasai Reddy’s residence
