Araku MP and YSR Congress Party, Dr. Thanuja Rani on Friday urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to order a probe over the alleged lapses in security arrangements for former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh.
In a press release, she stated that she had written a detailed letter to the Union Home Ministry since the AP government was intentionally ignoring the security for Mr. Jagan Reddy although he is entitled to Z plus category security.
She said: “During Mr. Jagan’s recent tours to Kurnool, Podili and Sattanapalle, a mob came dangerously closely to him. Even during the Sattanapalle tour, the State police did not even arrange a rope party. “
She criticised the State police for filing a case against Mr. Jagan Reddy for the untimely death of YSRCP activist Singayya during the Sattanapalle tour. She said: “We brought all these issues to the notice of Mr. Amit Shah since the State had been putting Mr. Jagan Reddy’s life in dangerous situation. The threat perception cannot be ruled out, as anti-social elements may join people and harm him.”
She requested the TDP government to shun politics with regards to security since continuation of Z plus security is the right of all former chief ministers. “The State government which controls law and order is completely responsible for all the security lapses. We are hopeful that Union Home Ministry might inquire into the issue soon,” she added.
