Minister for General Education and Labour V. Sivankutty has asked the Director of Training to study and report on rearranging the shifts in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) under the Industrial Training department.
Following recommendations submitted by the Director of Training earlier, the government had issued an order making Saturdays a holiday for all trainees in ITIs and rearranging the shifts to make up for loss of study time on that account. An amended order refixing the second shift timing in these ITIs had also been issued.
After studying the shift rearrangement in detail, the government asked the Director of Training to review the shift timings again and submit a report.
Till a decision is taken on the new report, the earlier shift timings have been restored – first shift from 7.50 a.m. to 3 p.m. and second shift from 10 a.m. to 5.10 p.m.
