Jayam Ravi changes name to Ravi Mohan; announces his own production banner and fans organisation-OxBig News Network

Tamil actor Jayam Ravi has officially changed his name to Ravi Mohan and has requested to be addressed as same. This comes just a day before the release of his upcoming film, Kadhalikka Neramillai, co-starring Nithya Menen.

In a statement posted on his social media handles, Ravi said that this is a transformative decision that would mark a new chapter in his journey. “From this day forward, I will be known as Ravi/Ravi Mohan, a name that deeply resonates with my personal and professional aspirations. As I move into this new chapter, aligning my identity with my vision and values, I kindly request everyone to address me by this name and no longer as Jayam Ravi. This is my personal note and a humble request,” he wrote.

Further, the actor has also launched his own production banner, Ravi Mohan Studios, which he says is “dedicated to discovering and championing compelling narratives that inspire, captivate, and resonate with audiences worldwide.”

“This venture represents my commitment to nurturing emerging talent and bringing profound, meaningful stories to cinema,” the note added.

In addition, in a move to give back to the communities that have supported him, the actor has unified his fan clubs under a structured organisation named Ravi Mohan Fans Foundation, aimed to support Ravi’s philanthropic efforts. “This foundation will work towards helping all those in need and making a positive impact in our society. It is my heartfelt effort to channel the love and support I have received into meaningful contributions for those who need it the most,” read his note, while also extending New Year and Pongal wishes. “Let’s make it a year of positivity, purpose, and progress, because I am open and ready to receive and reciprocate my true calling in life – Cinema.”

Ravi, named Mohan Ravi at birth, is the son of popular film editor A Mohan and the younger brother of popular filmmaker Mohan Raja. The actor had prefixed the title of his debut film, Jayam, directed by his brother, following its blockbuster success.

On the personal front, Ravi had announced separation from his wife Aarti in September last year. Married in June 2009, the two are parents to two sons, Aarav and Ayaan.

Last seen in Brother, Ravi will be seen this week in Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi’s Kadhalikka Neramillai. Up next, the actor will star in an untitled film directed by Dada-maker Ganesh K Babu, and alongside Sivakarthikeyan in Sudha Kongara’s next.
