Over 10 days after his arrest, University of Hyderabad research scholar Naveen Erram was released from judicial custody on Saturday, an official from the Gachibowli police confirmed.
Naveen was granted bail in a case related to students’ protest against the auction of 400-acre land in Kancha Gachibowli. However, the other student who was detained, identified as B. Rohit Kumar, has not been released, the police said.
He was detained on March 31 for rioting and allegedly assaulting public servants during the protest.
According to the police, the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) was carrying out development work at the site in Kancha Gachibowli when a group of individuals gathered at the site, allegedly attempting to stop the work by force.
The situation escalated when the group attacked officials and workers with sticks and stones, injuring the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Madhapur Division. He reportedly suffered serious injuries to his right knee and ankle, said the police.
