KL Rahul reveals he had to convince Athiya Shetty to name their baby girl Evaarah: ‘But her parents and my parents loved it’

Cricketer KL Rahul recently opened up about how he and his wife Athiya Shetty arrived at the name Evaarah for their baby girl. Rahul and Athiya welcomed their daughter, Evaarah Vipula Rahul, on March 24, 2025, and the announcement left the internet blushing.Rahul, who is currently playing for the Delhi Capitals in the 2025 IPL season, was seen interacting with fans and the media, where he shared the backstory behind his baby’s name. In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by one of his fans, Rahul was spotted saying, “It was a name that I just stumbled upon. We did go through a couple of name books that were sent by some close friends. Then I googled Evaarah and checked what the meaning is,” Rahul said.Although he felt an instant connection to the name, it wasn’t an easy decision for Athiya. “I loved it from the moment I saw it. It took me a little time to convince Athiya. But her parents and my parents loved it. Then she slowly fell in love with that name,” he added.The couple shared a subtle glimpse of their daughter on Rahul’s birthday last month. Even though they did not reveal her face, the glimpse of her lying wrapped in a cloth stunned fans and the internet.Athiya’s father, actor Suniel Shetty, also expressed his joy: “Becoming a grandfather recently is a feeling I can’t even describe. It’s a happiness that’s pure and untouched by anything the world can give or take away. I’ve spent decades building and running businesses, making films, and trying to create something meaningful.”Rahul and Athiya were married on January 23, 2023, at a private ceremony held at Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Khandala.
