KPCC assures the family of deceased Congress leader of its support-OxBig News Network

Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, head of an inquiry committee constituted by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) regardingthe unnatural death of Wayanad District Congress Committee (DCC) treasurer N.M. Vijayan and his son, assured that all concerns raised by Vijayan’s family will be addressed.

Speaking to the media after visiting Vijayan’s residence at Manichira, near Sulthan Bathery, on Wednesday (January 8, 2025), Mr. Radhakrishnan, who also chairs the party’s disciplinary committee, said that the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Vijayan’s death would proceed through established channels without interference.

“We regard the issues concerning the death with utmost seriousness. Our primary goal is to offer relief to the family,” he said. “We listened carefully to everything the family had to express, and they listened to our assurances attentively. They accepted our promise to find resolutions for everything.”

In response to queries from reporters regarding whether Vijayan’s financial issues would be resolved, he affirmed that all obligations would be taken care of. “The party will never abandon the family of Vijayan, who lived and died for the Indian National Congress,” he added. Anyone with a complaint related to Vijayan’s death can present it to the committee appointed by the party.

The committee members clarified that there should be no further debates or public campaigning within the party regarding this matter. Alongside Mr. Radhakrishnan, the committee comprising T.N. Prathapan, KPCC working president; Sunny Joseph, chairman of the Political Affairs Committee; and K. Jayant, the KPCC general secretary.

They arrived at Vijayan’s residence around 1 p.m. to discuss the matter with Vijayan’s son, Vijesh, and his wife, Padmaja.

Mr. Vijesh told the media after the discussions that the party leaders promised him all issues related to the family in connection with his father’s death would be resolved by the party. “We believe that the party in which my father trusted during his lifetime will protect us in our time of need,” he added. Earlier, the committee members held discussions with the district Congress leaders at the district DCC office here.

Meanwhile, the police team investigating the case registered abetment of suicide charge against the persons mentioned in Vijayan’s suicide notes.
