Kunal Kapoor reacts to playing Lord Indra in Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’: ‘Audience is going to be surprised’

Kunal Kapoor was recently seen in the heist action thriller ‘Jewel Thief‘, alongside Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat. He has now shared details about the much-awaited film Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, in which he is expected to play Lord Indra. He described the project as one of the most large-scale ventures in the entertainment industry.

In an interview with News18, Kunal spoke about the significance and scale of the film. “This is a very important film in our cultural history. It’s a really important part of our cultural ethos. I think it’s important that you have filmmakers and people who can give it the kind of scale it needs. This is mounted at a scale that we’ve never seen before,” he said.

Kunal further shared that the film is going to be very special and that he is excited about it. “I think the audience is going to be surprised by what they see,” he shared.
Earlier this year, speculation emerged about an intense action sequence featuring Kunal’s Indra clashing with Yash’s Raavan. While Kapoor remained tight-lipped about the specifics, he confirmed that the cinematic vision is set to be extraordinary.
Cast and Crew
‘Ramayana’ will feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Yash takes on the role of the antagonist Raavan, while Sunny Deol is expected to appear as Lord Hanuman. Other key characters include Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, and Arun Govil as King Dasharatha. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding the cast as yet.

Nitesh Tiwari‘s ‘Ramayana’ will be released in two parts, with Part 1 aiming for a Diwali 2026 release, followed by Part 2 during Diwali 2027.
