Major US indices close higher ahead of Trump tariff news | Forexlive

The major US indices are closing higher ahead of the Pres. Trump tariff news.

The gains were led by the NASDAQ index which advanced by 0.87%. The S&P index rose by 0.67%.

A snapshot of the closing levels shows:

• Dow industrial average +235.36 points or 0.56% at 42225.32
• S&P index up 37.90 points or 0.67% at 5670.97.
• NASDAQ index rose 151.16 points or 0.87% at 17601.05.

The small-cap Russell 2000 rose 33.12 points or 1.65% at 2045.36.

Shares of Amazon rose by 2.0% after reports that it had put in a bid for TikTok’s US business. There were other reports that Applovin was also looking to bid for the company.. It’s shares rose 2.72% in trading today.
