A 42-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his estranged wife in a fit of rage suspecting her fidelity in Electronics City on Friday night.
The victim, identified as 35-year-old Sharada from Bagepalli in Chikkaballapur district, was employed as a domestic worker. According to the police, her husband, Krishna, a daily wage labourer, frequently consumed alcohol and was often involved in arguments with her.
Police said that the couple had been living separately for the past few months due to ongoing domestic disputes. While their son stayed with Krishna, their daughter was living with Sharada.
“Krishna had been harbouring suspicions about Sharada’s character and had accused her of being involved in an extra-marital relationship on several occasions. On Friday night, he allegedly went to her residence in an intoxicated state and attacked her with a knife before fleeing from the spot,” police said.
A case has been registered at the Electronics City police station, the officials said. “We managed to apprehend the accused within a few hours of the crime,” a senior police officer said, adding, “The investigation is currently underway to establish further details about the motive and circumstances.”
