Mass shooting at Glendale restaurant: 3 killed, 5 hurt in Arizona

A shooting rampage erupted on Sunday evening outside a crowded restaurant in Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix, leaving three people dead and five others injured, police said.

The Glendale Police Department received multiple emergency calls around 7:45 p.m. reporting gunfire at El Camaron Gigante Mariscos & Steakhouse. Officer Moroni Mendez confirmed during a press conference that the victims sustained various injuries, including gunshot wounds and injuries caused by flying debris.

According to AP, restaurant management issued a statement clarifying that the shooting occurred in the parking lot, not inside the facility. “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all affected by this senseless violence,” the statement said.

The restaurant was hosting an event at the time, and Officer Mendez said that “a lot of people” were present when the shooting occurred. Authorities have not yet released information on the motive behind the attack.

Early investigations indicate that more than one suspect may have been involved. As of early Monday, no arrests had been made, though several individuals were being questioned by police.

“Anyone with information, please come forward,” Mendez appealed to the public. “Three lives were lost, and we are dedicated to conducting a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victims.”

Lupe Rodriguez, a witness who was nearby, described a terrifying scene as he and his friends ran for cover. “There was a man on the ground, and it didn’t look like he made it,” Rodriguez said. “His father was yelling out his name.”
