Mohammed Siraj joins Jasprit Bumrah in prestigious IPL list after 4/17 vs SRH-OxBig News Network

Mohammed Siraj joined Jasprit Bumrah in an elite IPL list as he picked up 4 for 17 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday, April 6. Siraj, playing on his home ground, produced a stunning spell that rattled the Hyderabad batting order on Sunday.

Siraj picked up the wicket of Travis Head in the first over and then followed it up by getting rid of Abhishek Sharma as well. Siraj would then come in later on to trap Aniket Verma in front of the stumps and then clean up Simarjeet Singh to complete his day’s work. With this performance, Siraj went past the 100-wicket mark in the IPL. Abhishek was the GT pacer’s 100th wicket.

This helped Siraj join an elite list of Indian pacers with 100 wickets in the tournament. Siraj joined Bhuvneshwar Kumar (183), Jasprit Bumrah (165), Umesh Yadav (144), Sandeep Sharma (141), Harshal Patel (139), Mohit Sharma (133), Mohammed Shami (130), Ashish Nehra (106), Vinay Kumar (105), Zaheer Khan (102) and Shardul Thakur (101).

Siraj has been in stunning form for GT after making the switch during the mega auction. The Indian pacer has picked up 9 wickets in 4 matches so far this season and is currently second in the purple cap race.

What Siraj said about his performance

Siraj commented on his performance and said that he is enjoying a lot and worked on his fitness during the break.

“I am enjoying a lot. I worked a lot on my fitness, mental strength during the break and it’s working out really well for me. Body is fresh and I am enjoying my bowling. 100% the saliva is helping us because in the death overs we are getting some reverse swing so if it nips back in a bit, I am certain that it’s a wicket for me. Without saliva, it was easier for the batters to hit the ball.”

To be honest, the wicket is a bit slow. I was attacking the stumps earlier on as the wicket was on the slower side. We are happy with the score but I feel they scored 10 runs more. Never mind, we will chase it down,” said Siraj.

GT ended up chasing down the score in the end as they won the match by 7 wickets.
