US-based employers announced 57,727 job cuts in the last month and that is ~27% higher compared to the same month a year ago. That is six months in a row now that the 2024 layoffs for the corresponding month has come in higher as compared to that in 2023. It is largely expected as the labour market has softened, so this just reaffirms that.
