What are the main events for today? | Forexlive

The main event today was the RBA’s rate decision where the central bank surprised by keeping rates on hold but eventually clarified that they just wanted to see the next quarterly CPI report before cutting rates.

Looking ahead, we don’t have much on the agenda other than a couple of low tier releases with the most notable ones being the US NFIB Small Business Optimism Index and the NY Fed Consumer Inflation Expectations. Both are rarely market-moving.

This week seems to be all about tariff noise with the US sending letters with new tariff rates that the countries will need to pay starting on August 1 if they don’t reach a trade deal by then.
