It’s kind of a synthetic Sunday today on the data front given the empty calendar. There’s just the final Eurozone CPI reading in the European session but it won’t be market moving unless we see big deviations.
Fed speakers will be the main highlight today. It will be interesting to hear from them about consumer inflation expectations in the UMich report which rose further despite the easing in trade tensions. At the moment, there’s also some angst about the Moody’s downgrade, although in my opinion it’s not a big deal.
Finally, it’s said that Trump and Putin will speak on the phone today to push for a ceasefire and get the peace deal done.
Central bank speakers:
- 12:30 GMT/08:30 ET – Fed’s Bostic (hawk – non voter)
- 12:45 GMT/08:45 ET – Fed’s Williams (neutral – voter) — the most important one
- 12:45 GMT/08:45 ET – Fed’s Bostic (hawk – non voter)
- 17:15 GMT/13:15 ET – Fed’s Logan (neutral – non voter)
- 17:30 GMT/13:30 ET – Fed’s Kashkari (hawk – non voter)
