Markets rebound almost 1%; Sensex surges over 760 factors as FMCG, energy shares acquire

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty rebounded sharply by almost 1% on Friday (May 23, 2025), propelled by shopping for in market heavyweights Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank and ITC.

After a flat begin to the commerce, the 30-share BSE benchmark bounced again and surged 769.09 factors or 0.95% to settle at 81,721.08. During the day, it jumped 953.18 factors or 1.17% to 81,905.17.

The NSE Nifty rallied 243.45 factors or 0.99% to 24,853.15.

From the Sensex companies, Eternal, Power Grid, ITC, Bajaj Finserv, Nestle, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Adani Ports had been among the many largest gainers.

Sun Pharma was the one laggard, declining almost 2%.

The firm’s inventory declined after it reported an almost 19% drop in consolidated web revenue for the quarter ended March 31, 2025.

In Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng settled in constructive territory, whereas South Korea’s Kospi and Shanghai’s SSE Composite index ended decrease.

Markets in Europe had been buying and selling increased in mid-session offers.

U.S. markets ended largely flat in in a single day commerce on Thursday (May 22, 2025).

Global oil benchmark Brent crude dipped 0.23% to $64.29 a barrel.

On Thursday (May 22, 2025), the BSE Sensex tanked 644.64 factors or 0.79% to settle at 80,951.99. The Nifty tumbled 203.75 factors or 0.82% to 24,609.70.
