Bandipora, 15 Nov 2024 : Residents of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district are grappling with frequent unscheduled power cuts, causing widespread inconvenience and disrupting daily life. The power outages have drawn strong criticism from locals, who have urged authorities to address the issue promptly.
Speaking to the media, Mohammad Hamidullah, a resident of Watrina, highlighted the impact on students. “Frequent power cuts are severely affecting students’ ability to study, especially during the evening hours. It’s a major hurdle in their academic progress,” he said.
Another resident, Tahir Khan, expressed frustration over the disruptions caused by the outages. “The lack of electricity is causing significant difficulties in our daily lives. Basic household activities are being affected,” he stated.
Many residents voiced concerns about the approaching winter season, fearing the situation may worsen. “If this is the condition before winter, what will happen during the harsh winter months when the demand for electricity increases?” one resident questioned.
The residents have called on the power department to take immediate action to ensure a consistent electricity supply in the district. Despite repeated complaints, the issue remains unresolved, leaving citizens exasperated and bracing for potential hardships in the colder months.
Local authorities have yet to respond to these grievances, but the growing discontent among the public underscores the urgent need for a solution.
