JAMMU: More than 100 sheep were charred to death in a fire that gutted a cattle shed in Vijaypur in J&K’s Samba district early Wednesday. No human casualties or injuries occurred in the accident.
The blaze erupted around 3.30am in Rakhbrotian Basti area of Vijaypur at a cattle shed owned by Jamal Din son of Shobian. Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the flames, which were doused around 4.30am with the help of locals.
Tehsildar (revenue official) Sudesh Kumar said the administration would extend all possible help to Jamal Din for the loss incurred.
