Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC again, Indian Army retaliates-OxBig News Network

The Pakistani troops carried out “unprovoked” firing all across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir during the intervening night of April 25 and 26, the Indian Army said. The Indian Army responded appropriately with small arms, officials said. The development comes as tensions escalate between the two countries in the aftermath of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives and injured many.   

This is the second time in two nights that Pakistan troops have tried to provoke the Indian Army, which said that the firing was carried out from multiple posts all across the LoC, the de facto border which separates Indian and Pakistani armies in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. 

“On the night of the 25th-26th of April 2025, unprovoked small firing was carried out by various Pakistan Army posts all across the Line of Control in Kashmir. Indian troops responded appropriately with small arms. No casualties reported,” the Indian Army said in its statement. 

India takes strict measures against Pakistan

In light of cross-border links to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, India announced a series of strong retaliatory steps. These include the suspension of the 65-year-old Indus Waters Treaty, the closure of the Attari land border crossing, and the expulsion of Pakistani military diplomats from the country along with revoking visas for Pakistani nationals. 

India has also directed all Pakistani nationals who entered via the Attari border to leave the country by May 1.

In response, Pakistan shut its airspace to Indian carriers and suspended all trade with New Delhi, including indirect trade via third countries. Additionally, Islamabad rejected India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, warning that any attempt to block Pakistan’s share of water would be treated as an “act of war.”

Amid nationwide grief and anger over the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a strong message, vowing to pursue the perpetrators “to the ends of the earth.” He reaffirmed India’s resolve to “identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers.”
