MOSCOW: Members of the Indian community in Russia are eagerly awaiting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in Moscow and will request him to support them in building a Hindu temple, a new Indian school building and more direct flights to India. The Prime Minister is visiting Moscow from July 8-9 at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin for the 22nd India-Russia annual summit scheduled to be held on Tuesday.

Members of the Indian diaspora in Russia expressed excitement about Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Russia while talking to PTI-Video here. The community members also expressed their desire for a Hindu temple, a new Indian school building and more direct flights to India. Rakesh Kumar Srivastava from Patna, who lives in Russia, said, “There are some things which are still missing in the society. For example, we will demand the construction of a Hindu temple from Prime Minister Modi. There are also some problems with airlines as only Russian airline Aeroflot’s services are available. If any other airline like Air India operates flights to Russia, the number of flights will increase along with the availability of seats.

People said ‘Mann Ki Baat’-

With the spread of Hinduism in Russia in recent years and the increase in the number of Indians, this community is feeling the need to build a temple in the country to fulfill their spiritual needs. Another Indian living in Russia, Dilip Kumar Minglani said, “We have only one hope from Prime Minister Modi that something should be done for the Indian diaspora so that the students of the community get good education and schools are strengthened. The Indian community importing goods from India is facing some problems, they should also be looked into so that India-Russia relations become stronger.” Pooja Chandra from Uttar Pradesh living in Russia said, “Since I am a mother, I want a new building for the Indian school. The existing building is very old and if we get a new building, the future of the students will be secure.” Indian doctor in Russia M Mathew has requested Prime Minister Modi to get Ayurvedic medicines recognized in Russia.
